Former Minister of Integration, Klajda Gjosha, has commented on the IBAR report regarding the blocked integration process for Albania.
Invited to Ola Bruko's News42 lunch program, Gjosha said that due to this blockage, it is very likely that this process will be blocked until 2027, when according to her there will be no membership. According to Gjosha, the EU seems to have set a red line, while the biggest weight from which this blockage has come is the issue of Balluk's immunity.
"I would not like to get off the floor, as it concerns the EU integration process. I am sorry that it has not been approved. The question marks are huge. Some of the member states, even some of them have never been an obstacle to the process, have raised uncertainties about this process. What needs to be analyzed is that several months have passed. Today we have a 4-5 month delay in this process. I have followed carefully what has been said. The year 2027 seems unattainable for integration. 2028 is an election year. When will the process end? Politically, I see it as impossible. Member states do not make progressive decisions, as long as the elections are. I see that it is difficult to achieve anything by 2027. If there is nothing new in May, it is June, and we continue with further delays, so it makes negotiations in 2027 impossible. The report that has just been produced by the EC is extensive. There are many issues raised, where I think that in the fact-finding mission they had in Albania, they were well informed. As was the issue of immunity, it had its own weight. I think it is the greatest weight that weighs on this blockade, or the currently suspended process. It is not the Balluku issue, but it is a phenomenon. I believe there are questions here; why was the decision not made? Why was it not executed. I believe that the EU has a red line here, it does not tolerate. The EU is not just a matter of letters. When I read the resolution, it is in childish language. I do not know if that is intentional. We cannot say that we will say in a resolution; that we pledge that we will give the opposition space to make its contribution in the Assembly. (Resolution approved yesterday in the Assembly)”, she said.
