MP and Deputy Leader of the Democratic Party, Luçiano Boçi, invited to News24, has commented on today's developments in the Parliament, where the majority led by Prime Minister Edi Rama voted against granting authorization to SPAK to arrest former Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku.

According to Boçi, the majority's decision shows that the political situation in the country has deteriorated and that, according to him, the developments are no longer related to political clashes, but to corruption issues that then take political form. He stated that the prime minister is trying to keep every institution in Albania under control, including the justice system.

"Today everything has crumbled and this has happened not for political reasons, but for corrupt reasons that later turn into political positions. Rama seeks to control everything in Albania. Now he seeks to control justice not through previous means, but through a stronger opposition to the activity of the justice system, to hinder it in the investigation against the former deputy prime minister, but also against himself," declared Boçi.

He added that, according to him, the prime minister is the main figure in some of the affairs being investigated by SPAK, mentioning also the issue related to AKSHI and the one related to Balluk.

Boçi also stressed that today's vote in the Assembly constitutes a message of pressure on the prosecution body. "Rama today has used his deputies to threaten SPAK," he said, adding that, according to the opposition, this constitutes an attempt to hinder investigations against senior officials.
