New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani said his administration is considering arresting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu if he travels to the city to attend the United Nations General Assembly, scheduled for September.

In a public statement, Mamdani said he believes Netanyahu should face international justice. “I believe Prime Minister Netanyahu should be tried in The Hague,” he said, referring to the international proceedings against the Israeli leader. The mayor also added that Netanyahu is “a war criminal indicted by the International Criminal Court.”

Mamdani's statement comes at a time when many world leaders are expected to participate in the proceedings of the UN General Assembly in New York, while the issue of the arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court against Netanyahu continues to be the subject of debate in the international arena.
