The Court of Appeals has sentenced 64-year-old Isuf Hasa to life imprisonment, accused of murdering his neighbor, 81-year-old Xhemal Meta, a serious event that occurred in January 2025.
According to the investigative file, the elderly man was brutally beaten with a hammer inside his apartment, while the motive for the crime is suspected to have been the robbery of money.
An event that not only took the life of a helpless man, but also shocked the residents of the area, who could not believe that such a macabre act could happen between neighbors.
The Appeals Court decision changed the first-instance sentence of 25 years in prison, considering the event of particular importance and giving the maximum sentence, life imprisonment. The victim's son spoke about the tragic event, moved by the loss of his father.
"We welcomed the decision very well. He was a man we helped. The family asked us to meet but we refused. On the day the murder happened, I left his brother at home, it never crossed our minds. He brought disgrace to the entire area, the entire village. The real motive was the money he needed, the loans he had, this is our suspicion. It was something premeditated that he had the hammer with him, they also drank coffee in the morning. He had about 4 million with him, because he had also sold some sheep. Robbery was the motive. He knew where he kept the money..." he said.
