Tirana police have arrested 22-year-old Erisjaldo Gjuta, the nephew of Vladimir Gjuta, after the incident that occurred at their family's hotel where the 18-year-old was injured with a gunshot.

The 18-year-old was Erisjaldo Gjuta's girlfriend and is suspected of having shot herself with the 22-year-old's gun while she was alone in the room.

The pistol has not yet been found, while the 22-year-old denies any knowledge of it in his statements. Erisjaldo Gjuta is accused of the criminal offenses of "Failure to report a crime", "Actions that hinder the discovery of the truth", committed in collaboration, and "Unlicensed possession of explosive weapons and ammunition".

He stated that he was outside with his father when he heard the gunshot. According to him, they ran to the room where his girlfriend was, and found her injured. Initially, they tried to give her first aid, but when they saw that her condition was serious, they decided to take her to the hospital.

A day earlier, police arrested the 22-year-old's mother and uncle, Mirvete and Vladimir Gjuta. Meanwhile, his father and cousin, Saimir and Elvir Gjuta, are wanted.

They are accused of not reporting the crime and destroying evidence at the scene, and of being ordered to declare that "they found the girl lying in the Economic District."

The girl is out of danger and in her statement she claimed that she attempted to commit suicide after "making mistakes in life."
