A touching speech full of accusations against the social and economic situation in the country was delivered in front of the Prime Minister's Office building by Flutura Kasa, originally from Kavaja, who serves as deputy mayor in France.
Kasa expressed that although she lives and serves as a local government official in France, every time she returns to her homeland she is faced with the lack of even the most minimal living conditions for her fellow countrymen:
“I am Flutura Kasa, born in Kavaja. I live in France and I am the deputy mayor there. I know a little about politics and I give everything I have for the citizens there, but every time I come back here my heart bleeds when I see my people suffering in this way. I have personally experienced what you go through every day: in the middle of the heat, the lights go out and we are left without water. How is it possible that a people in the middle of Europe still suffer for water and electricity?!”
Further, she broke down the economic crisis faced by ordinary Albanian families, emphasizing that today there are two completely different realities in the country: The construction of towers with dubious financial resources; Ordinary people who cannot even provide the most minimal things to live, while the prices of basic foods are increasing at a galloping pace and the euro has fallen to the level of 90 lek.
