The Trafficking Investigation Section of the Tirana Police has successfully completed an operation codenamed "Organizer", hitting a human trafficking network. A 34-year-old Egyptian with the initials AH, resident of Krujë, was arrested, suspected of organizing the illegal transport of immigrants to European Union countries.
According to official information, the foreigner had built a real scheme to escape strict police controls. In order not to be noticed on the roads, he did not transport the clandestine people in groups, but moved them one by one towards the border areas.
After obtaining information on the operational route, the Police services intervened at the crucial moment. The 34-year-old Egyptian was caught red-handed on the highway, near Rinas, while he was transporting a fellow countryman towards Shkodra, with the intention of illegally crossing the border.
As material evidence, police agents have seized the arrested person's mobile phone, which is expected to shed light on the conversations and other associates involved in this network of trafficking cells that operate in exchange for large payments.
"From the investigations so far, it is suspected that the 34-year-old was the organizer of providing assistance to foreign citizens, mainly from Egypt, for illegal border crossing. Intensive work is being done to fully document the criminal activity of this citizen," the Police officially announced.
The procedural materials have already been forwarded to the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Tirana, for further legal action.
