After the opposition's 3-hour protest in front of the Prime Minister's Office, the leader of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta, reacted from prison, where he thanked the participating citizens and accused the government of what he described as a "narco-mafia regime."
Meta said that today's protest gave a clear message of strength, democracy and determination, emphasizing that citizens are the majority in the face of a minority that, according to him, has robbed Albanians of their future. "Today, the foundations of Ramaduro's narco-state were shaken," Meta wrote.
He also accused law enforcement agencies of violence against peaceful protesters and journalists, warning that those responsible will be held accountable.
Meta's reaction
Gratitude from the heart to thousands of free, honest and patriotic citizens, who shook the Ramaduro Drug State to its foundations today, restoring hope for the speedy Freedom of Albania! Albanians gave today a clear message of strength, democracy and determination to defend at all costs our freedom, dignity and Homeland. The magnificent protest showed in the square that the people are an absolute majority in the face of a narco-mafia minority, who steal from them and have robbed them of their future! I call on the narco-police, humble servants of criminals, to urgently stop the mafia kidnappings and violence against peaceful protesters, violence that has not spared even Albanian media journalists. This Narco-police will very soon be held accountable, one by one, for the criminal terror against protesters. Confrontation without return! This rotten regime is over and its days are numbered! VICTORY!
