Rumors of a reunion began circulating in June, when Grande and Alvarez were spotted together in Austin. He also appeared at several of her concerts during her "Eternal Sunshine" tour, adding to suspicions that something more than friendship had rekindled between them.

Grande even started making small references to their relationship during her performances. At one concert, she changed a part of the song “Thank U, Next,” singing: “I wrote some songs for Ricky / We always find our way back to each other.” A small change, but one that immediately caught fans’ attention.

The pair first met in 2014, when Alvarez was one of Grande's back-up dancers during her "Honeymoon" tour. They began dating in 2015, but the romance lasted about a year and ended in 2016. Despite the split, the two appear to have maintained a good relationship, and Alvarez has remained a close and trusted confidant to the singer.

Their reunion, however, seems to be taking place without much of a rush. According to a source, the pair aren't trying to make it too serious right away, while Grande is simply "happy to have him back in her life." For now, it seems like the two are enjoying their reunion and taking their time.
