The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, in a press conference from the blue headquarters, listed the reasons why Albanians should join the opposition protest, until the government is removed.
One of the motives for the opposition's peaceful uprising, according to him, is the Port of Durres, which "is turning into the Dubai of Rama's 1001 Nights."
"The crisis, the war, in the Middle East, outside of that region, the most serious consequences in the world are being experienced by Albanian citizens with the highest oil price on the planet. This is not mainly because of the war, but because of the Rama tax. A tax that is the highest in the world per liter of oil. His cynical attitude towards punishing citizens by the price of oil aggravates his position. Rama removed even the little subsidy he had, guaranteeing the fallowing of thousands of hectares of land in Albania and the bankruptcy of tens of thousands of farms in this country. The Rama tax is a tax that punished all citizens with public transport.
Instead of an emergency intervention by the government and compensation for the increased price of oil so that citizens have minimal public transportation, the government is sitting idly by and this hits citizens who use public transportation to get to work or school.
A major issue for every Albanian is the Port of Durres, which is the largest public asset that Albanians have inherited from their state. This public asset is being alienated and transformed into the Dubai of Rama's 1001 Nights, a fabulous profit that exceeds 4 billion euros. In addition, every Albanian citizen with his taxes is obliged to contribute, to be punished with 1 billion euros minimum for the construction of Porto Romano, which will be 4 times smaller than the Port of Durres. Motive for every citizen to protect public interest and assets. There is also an essential motive on the moral level, it is a period where the government's puppeteers, its speakers do everything to cover up the anti-legal and anti-national acts of the Rama government, and have launched an unbridled attack against the opposition. We must rise up against the mafia that slanders and protects the interests of Mr. Rama. Against those who do everything to discourage them", he said.
