MP Marjana Koceku, known as "Neomalsorja", has reacted after the fire that broke out in the early hours of Sunday morning in one of the popular hotels in Vlora, where several Albanian vacationers were injured, including citizens from Kosovo.
Koçek announced that he had visited some of the injured in Tirana, and expressed concern about their health condition.
"In the early hours of the morning, one of the well-known hotels in Vlora caught fire, where several Albanian vacationers were injured, including citizens from Kosovo. We visited them today in Tirana, together with Adriatik Kurti, concerned about their condition. Some of them are receiving specialized treatment, while two young people are in serious condition in intensive care. I wish them a speedy recovery with all my heart!", writes Koceku.
The MP raises questions about safety standards in accommodation structures, especially in five-star hotels.
"How can a citizen travel for vacation and end up risking their life because the hotel they are staying at does not meet minimum safety requirements? Especially when it comes to a certified 5-star hotel," she says.
According to the testimonies of the injured and their families, Koçek says that it is suspected that the fire alarm and emergency systems did not function properly, while also raising concerns about the evacuation routes.
"The two girls jumped from the third floor to escape the flames," the MP emphasizes.
In conclusion, Koçek demands an in-depth investigation and full transparency into the causes and manner of managing the situation.
"A thorough investigation and transparency is needed on this alarming event. The safety of vacationers cannot be left to chance, acquaintances or interests, but must be guaranteed through the implementation of laws and proper safety standards," she concludes.
