Former Commander of the Navy, Vladimir Beja on the show ""Opposition" in "News24", spoke about the Sea issue. When asked about President Bajram Begaj's position, he emphasized that the President is clear regarding the maritime border with Greece.
During the interview, he criticized the way in which, according to him, the issue has been politicized over the years, stating that it should not be seen as a "hot potato" between political forces.
"The sea issue is not a hot potato between Berisha-Rama-Begaj or Begaj-Rama. This is an ugly game and we return to inferiority," said Beja.
He also emphasized that the situation is very sensitive, describing the sea as a national asset and an important strategic part of the country.
According to him, decision-making on this issue should be based on national interest and not on political calculations or institutional disagreements.
"Political consensus is not bad. To my knowledge, President Begaj is clear about the situation. But there is a problem that I want to raise again here. The sea issue is not a hot potato between Berisha-Rama-Begaj. Or Begaj-Rama… This is an ugly game and we are returning to inferiority again. This is a fight for existence. The situation is very critical. There is no more land. The sea is being divided. The sea is part, it is national wealth. We Albanians should no longer complain that they have set our borders, here you have them now, expand the borders according to what belongs to you. So you have them and you want to give them back just because the parties do not understand each other. It is shameful, for political credo… When I divided it, he said he divided it by 6… This is a game that you suffer, from the Greek side you do not have this thing", he said among other things.
