For about 10 years, residents of neighborhood 6 in Kavaja have continued to face the discharge of sewage into the yards of their apartments, a problem that, according to them, has created a serious risk to their health and livelihood.
Resident Shpëtim Nova, who raised the concern with the "TakFak" editorial office, says that the cause of the situation is the blockage of a main manhole in the sewage network.
According to him, the well was damaged by a neighbor who lives abroad, while his family members have denied responsibility, blaming other collectors in the area.
Residents say that during efforts to find a solution, they have been faced with a clear lack of responsibility from institutions and conflict between the parties, while the situation on the ground continues to deteriorate.
They also held a meeting at the Municipality of Kavaja, where they were welcomed by Secretary Arjan Malaj.
According to them, a court decision has been requested in advance for interference with private property, to allow the opening and unblocking of the manhole.
Meanwhile, residents say that the mayor was not present at the institution during their visit, and communication with him was only done by phone. According to them, he described the problem as "small and solvable," promising intervention in a situation that has been going on for a decade.
Residents are demanding urgent solutions, stressing that they are exposed to pollution, strong odors and the risk of disease.
