Former advisor to former Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani, Kreshnik Çollaku, has made strong statements about political developments in Kosovo, as the country is expected to head to new elections following the dissolution of Parliament and the failure to elect a new president.
Invited to the lunch program at News24, Çollaku raised suspicions of a deliberate plan for Osmani's political elimination, describing her departure as a development with consequences for the country.
"The elimination of a president like Vjosa Osmani, with such important international connections for Kosovo, raises the question: who does this action serve? I think there is a plan to eliminate her politically and this plan has been activated," he said.
According to him, the main responsibility falls on Prime Minister Albin Kurti, due to the breakdown of the political agreement between them. Çollaku stated that a "political contract" existed between Osman and Kurti, which had functioned for a period, despite ideological differences.
He revealed that in January, Kurti had promised Osmani the support of the parliamentary majority with 66 votes for her re-election as president, while votes were also required from the opposition to reach the quorum of 80 votes.
According to Çollaku, Osmani was committed to securing the support of the opposition, especially from the LDK, and only three days before the deadline, the necessary votes were secured. However, unexpectedly, a few days before the session, she was informed that she would no longer be the Vetëvendosje Movement's candidate for president.
Çollaku emphasized that Osmani's departure has created advantages for factors that are not in Kosovo's interest, also mentioning the impact on international relations, where, according to him, her figure had great weight.
