Journalist Aulon Kalaja in an interview in "News24" spoke about the fire situation in the country, as well as the Territorial Reform.
During his interview, he expressed concern about the lack of firefighting equipment, adding that a major investment is needed in this sector.
The Territorial Reform also made a comment. He said that the Reform carried out in 2015 has failed.
"The fires in Abazë, Krujë have been active for 5 days. There are several fires that continue to be active. At the moment we speak, the fire is somewhere around 30 meters in Boyë, Krujë. The fire has reached the Halil neighborhood of Fushë Krujë. There has been talk of deliberate arson, but this remains within the scope of speculation. There are rumors that the fire was set to open the land for a new quarry. But the problem is how we behave towards the fire. Krujë is a very difficult terrain for firefighters to enter. In most cases, firefighters are betrayed because they do not have the tools, they do not have the clothing. We need a very strong investment in firefighters, helicopters. The West has been putting our firefighting equipment out of action since the 70s. There is also a commitment from citizens, as the boys of Krujë were engaged with makeshift means to put out the fire. The fire in Krujë has not been extinguished 100% as Rama said.
Also for "Territoriale", he underlined that Prime Minister Rama has done everything with a plan and that everything that has been proposed has nothing to do with the Territorial Reform, as he describes it as 'electoral reform.'
"Rama was worried about the reaction of 50 cities in the Republic of Albania. He had a ready file and a concrete plan. And he only made pseudo-hearsays. Because they had the new electoral map ready, because it is not a territorial map. The burning of SP cards in some areas has happened. But Rama only wants to buy time. They do it without asking anyone, but as Rama wants, and this is not a good omen. I expected a strong response from the internationals. With this reform, 'we close the chapters' after we turn back. He has taken the narrow group of deputies out into the field to hold meetings... The administration has come out on the orders of the mayor," he said.
