Former prosecutor Eugen Beçi has commented on the tragic accident in Durrës, where two minors lost their lives and another was injured, emphasizing that responsibility cannot be limited to the driver of the vehicle.
In "This Week", Beçi stated that although the main fault for the incident lies with the driver who was driving the vehicle while intoxicated and at a speed exceeding the permitted limits, there are other factors that need to be investigated.
According to him, the role of the Traffic Police should also be assessed, as well as the level of control over problematic drivers. Beçi also emphasized the responsibility of local governments for the installation of vertical and horizontal traffic signs, which can directly affect road safety.
"The main fault is the driver of the vehicle, he drove the vehicle while intoxicated beyond the permitted speed limits. This is the subjective fault but it is not the only fault. The infrastructure, how good and in favor of protecting human life it is, the preventive power of the traffic police and how controlling they have been towards these drivers, and to see the local government for the conditions for assigning vertical and horizontal signs. All of this must be seen. We would be wrong if we said that the fault is only the driver's. The fault is also the local government. It is time to go to the end of an investigation and identify all the factors that have influenced it," he said.
