Socialist Party MP Zegjine Caushi has reacted to the publicized incident, where a 34-year-old woman reported violence against her and rape, accusing it of being committed by the socialist MP's uncle.

In a lengthy reaction on social media, Caushi clarified her relationship with her uncle, Bledar Bakaj, and his cohabitant, Merita Gremaj, emphasizing that she was informed about the event through the media, just like the rest of the public.

Caushi explains that her mother's family consists of 11 children and that, because each of them has their own family and life, contact between them is not constant.

The MP says that at the beginning of June, she had passed by her uncle's apartment by chance, where she had seen several relatives and neighbors gathered in the yard. According to her, Merita Gremaj was also there, who had been introduced to her as Bledar Bakaj's cohabitant.

Full reaction:

Referring to the event that occurred in the village of Suk 2 and published by the media on 14.09.2026 and 15.09.2026, I would like to clarify public opinion regarding the information provided so far.

My mother's family consists of 11 children: 9 sisters and 2 brothers. They all have their own families, jobs, and lives, so naturally we don't have constant, uninterrupted contact with each other.

I met my mother's brother, Bledar Bakaj, together with Mrs. Merita Gremaj, by chance after a meeting I had in that area, at the beginning of June. I passed by the apartment and saw relatives and neighbors, about 10-15 people, in the yard of the apartment. I even met a cousin there, who Merita Gremaj considered to be a close relative from her father's tribe.

As soon as I entered the yard, I saw Merita, who introduced herself to me as Bledari's roommate. I obviously congratulated them on their relationship, as the neighbors who were present were also doing the same, and then, like me, my cousin and I turned to her: "Have you made up your minds? Will you get married?"

Merita Gremaj said: "Yes, yes, I have taken into account the conditions in which Bledari lives, even though his father doesn't like it..."

"Don't cause us any problems," I said after her words, referring to my father's consent. The matter was resolved with laughter and congratulations from the people present.

I stayed for about 10 minutes and moved on to my commitments, the others continued to stay.

After a few days, I saw photos of them together on social media, smiling and holding flowers.

This is all the information I had and have regarding their relationship.

I was informed about this event through the media, just like the public opinion.

I want to say it very clearly: I strongly condemn any form of VIOLENCE, regardless of WHO it is perpetrated by.

At the same time, I think this is a case that should be treated seriously and carefully, also from a psychological perspective, for both people, with the aim of finding the right solution and preventing any further escalation.

For the rest, law enforcement agencies must do their job.
