The KLA War Veterans Organization has placed a plaque on Kristaq Porodini's apartment in Tirana, recognizing his home as a KLA War base. The decision was made during the meeting of the Tirana Branch of the Veterans Organization on October 20, 2025.
According to the motivation of the OVL-UCK, Kristaq Porodini has contributed since 1981 in favor of the national cause, being in contact with well-known figures such as Isuf Gërvalla, Adem Demaçi, Kadri Zeka, Bardhosh Gërvalla, Mehmet Haziri, Hydajet Hyseni, Xhavit Haziri, Xhabir Morina, Elmi Reçica and others.
During the KLA War until independence, his house served as an illegal and safe base for key political and military leaders, including Hashim Thaçi, Xhavit Haliti, Azem Syla, Fazli Veliu, Ali Ahmeti, Ismet Suleman, etc. Important decisions were made in this house for the organization and direction of combat activity. The symbolic ceremony of placing the plaque was also attended by Mr. Xhavit Haliti himself, former PDK MP and former Deputy Speaker of the Kosovo Assembly.
"Kristaqi and his family made a remarkable contribution until the end of the War. The installation of this plaque is a way to recognize their historical role and preserve national memory," stated the head of the KLA veterans' branch for Tirana.
According to the statement, the Porodin house is just one of several such bases that were also identified in other cities in Albania, reflecting the organization's efforts to document and evaluate the contribution of individuals and families who provided active support during the KLA War.
A total of 11 Kosovo Liberation Army bases have been declared in Albania, in Elbasan, Has, Tropoja, Kukës and Tirana. The placement of such plaques serves as a reminder of the dedication and sacrifice of the citizens who contributed to the liberation and organization of the Kosovo Liberation Army.
