The armed forces of Yemen's internationally recognized government have accused Houthi rebels of launching another wave of ballistic missile attacks on the Red Sea port city of al-Makha, as well as on residential areas in the central city of Marib.

Yemeni authorities have not reported any casualties from Monday's attacks. However, they come just a day after Houthi missile strikes on al-Makha, also known as Mocha, killed at least seven people and wounded 30 others. The attacks also caused significant damage to the city's port area.
Meanwhile, in another incident, a Houthi drone strike killed two Yemeni government soldiers and wounded seven others in the south-central province of Shabwa, according to local media reports.

Yemeni government forces declared through a series of posts on the social network X that they had struck Houthi rebel positions in the eastern province of al-Jawf, in Saada, in the northwest of the country, as well as in the al-Tibas area of ​​Marib province.

The recent clashes are considered among the bloodiest in recent years in Yemen and mark a significant escalation of the civil war.
The Houthis, backed by Iran, took control of the capital Sana'a in September 2014. In March 2015, a coalition led by Saudi Arabia intervened militarily in support of the internationally recognized government.

The conflict has claimed hundreds of thousands of lives and plunged the country into a severe humanitarian crisis. In April 2022, the parties reached a ceasefire that brought a significant reduction in fighting across the country.
However, violence has returned in recent months, raising fears of a new escalation of the conflict and the involvement of regional actors in the fighting in Yemen.
