The war between the United States and Iran is expected to enter a “very different phase” in the coming months, US Vice President JD Vance said. In an interview with the New York Post, Vance said that Washington considers the first phase of the conflict essentially over.

According to him, the main US objectives at this stage have been to damage Iran's nuclear program, weaken its conventional military capabilities, and limit Tehran's ability to project power in the region.

"And then the second phase is to make sure they can't rebuild those capabilities and preserve as much global stability as possible," Vance said.

The US vice president stressed that he could not predict with certainty how the conflict would develop, but estimated that within "a few months" the situation would be significantly different.

Meanwhile, according to Vance, Iran continues to periodically target commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. Navigation in this strategic area remains restricted, despite ongoing US operations in the region.

Vance's statements signal that the US administration is seeing the conflict in two stages, with the next phase focused not only on damaging Iranian capabilities, but also on preventing their reconstruction and maintaining stability in the region.
