Gastroenterologist Gerald Kola was invited to "Time to Wake Up" with Klevis Muka on News24, where he spoke about the digestive and weight problems we encounter after the end-of-year festivities, when care for food is less.

Emphasis was placed on fasting, or fasting, as one of the best ways to control weight and help with organization.

"I've seen people who have gained 10 kilograms in a week. During the holidays, it's normal to gain weight, 95 percent of the population will gain kilograms when they eat in large quantities. Those with good metabolisms are excluded."
We should eat slowly because this gives the body time to recognize the food we are eating.
We also need to rationalize the food we consume.
Food should not be the source of pleasure, we should find pleasure in other ways. Food is simply a means of survival, to have energy to survive as an organism.
Fasting is the best form of weight control. Fasting is a minimum of 12 hours.
In cave times, people could only eat once every 2 or 3 days because food had to be found in nature, while today we have food ready and accessible anywhere and anytime.
"It is impossible for the body to break down such an amount of food, for a population that mostly has an inactive life. Even today, most of our work is not physical," he said.
