Italy and Albania were shocked by the murder of Iliara Sula, the 22-year-old Albanian who was killed by her Filipino boyfriend Mark Samson.
Ilaria Sula's parents, in an exclusive interview for the show "With an Open Heart", by author and moderator Evis Ahmeti, have revealed the last phone call with their daughter.
Father Flamur Sula recounts that their last conversation lasted 15 minutes and the topic discussed was the daily routine, and the girl had told them that she would return home in a few days.
"For us, there is no more life because when a parent loses a child, they have lost everything. We are two living beings who breathe to bring her justice to the end."
March 25th was the day we last spoke with Ilarian, he spoke to me and my wife. The conversation was routine, we asked him what he had done that day and how his studies were going, the daily routine when we talked together.
We talked for about 15 minutes and he didn't give us any signal to let us understand anything,. We didn't understand anything because I wasn't going to sit around doing nothing. Ilaria told us she would come to our house on Saturday morning on the 29th. She told me she would come and give me an appointment at the hairdresser. We were expecting her to come to our house on Saturday morning. Since Tuesday I don't even understand how we never spoke on the phone, when before we would definitely talk if not every day once every two days.
"On the 29th, my wife sent him a text message asking if he had caught the train, but the text message didn't go through and the phone was turned off. This had never happened before and we were alarmed. We thought maybe he had lost his phone, the train came and went, but Ilaria never came," he said.
