Interethnic tensions in North Macedonia appear to have returned to focus after the appearance of messages with anti-Albanian content, just days after the student protest demanding the holding of bar exams in the Albanian language.
A photo from the "Forca" sports center in Skopje is circulating on social networks, where a slogan with hate speech against Albanians is written: "Neither on earth nor in heaven, there is no place for Albanians."
The image has also been widely shared by political figures and activists, who have called for a response and intervention from the responsible institutions in North Macedonia. However, no official response from the authorities has been reported so far.
The incident comes at a time when anti-Albanian rhetoric has increased in the country. Earlier, during a sporting event, Macedonian fans were heard chanting and shouting insults at Albanians, prompting reactions and concerns about the rise of hate speech.
