New developments have come to light regarding the death of 19-year-old Albanian woman, Myrto, in Argostoli, Kefalonia, as investigations are deepening and shedding light on the role of the people who were with her at critical moments.
According to the latest information, it is suspected that the people who were with the young woman tried to hide their connection with the victim, claiming that they did not know her, even though she was unconscious next to them. A 23-year-old man involved in the incident, it turns out, called the emergency services, but gave a different location than where the girl was.
Reports that he claimed to have found an unconscious girl on the street, but the reported location did not match where her companions had left her. Meanwhile, two other people were with the 19-year-old, including a 26-year-old former weightlifter.
Evidence shows that those present tried to convince passers-by that they had nothing to do with the girl and that they had found her by chance, maintaining this attitude even after the ambulance arrived. However, a serious mistake proved crucial for the investigation: the emergency call was traced to the 23-year-old's mobile phone, overturning his initial version and directly linking him to the incident. Authorities are analyzing communications from four electronic devices linked to the case, in the hope of further clarifying the circumstances and individual responsibilities.
One of the people involved, a 26-year-old who has previously been a successful weightlifter, winning a gold medal at a European youth championship, is known to authorities. He has reportedly been involved in a number of incidents, including physical violence, threats, drug possession and property damage. In one recent incident, he allegedly attempted to jack up a police car to free his stuck vehicle.
The Hellenic Weightlifting Federation has clarified that he is no longer an active athlete and does not have a sports license, distancing himself from any connection with him. On the other hand, his mother has categorically denied the allegations of drug use, stressing that her son has never been a user and demanding that toxicological tests prove this.
New evidence and serious accusations
According to the 23-year-old's testimony, cocaine was used on the night of the incident and at some point the 19-year-old felt unwell. He claims that at around 04:30, the 26-year-old picked up the Albanian woman and carried her out of the building, leaving her in a nearby park. Footage is said to show this moment, while those involved then left the scene after calling an ambulance, denying any knowledge of the victim.
Meanwhile, another serious development has come to light, a woman has reported that in 2022, the 26-year-old allegedly put a substance in her drink, leaving her unconscious. She had not previously reported the incident, but decided to speak out after the case of Myrtos. According to her, other girls have also made similar statements to the police. Investigations continue, while authorities are expected to shed more light on a case that has shocked public opinion in Greece and beyond.
