Residents of the villages of Gjeroven, Mbolan and Veleshnje organized a protest in front of the Berat Municipality, demanding the improvement of the road connecting these villages.
As part of the protest, a four-person delegation entered the municipality's premises to hold a meeting with its representatives and discuss concerns regarding the condition of the road and the need for rapid intervention.
One of the protesters said that they were met by the deputy mayor of Berat, Bledi Çili, and added that the latter had not offered him a solution. He said that the municipality did not have the funds to intervene in these roads, adding that the government only wants them for votes.
"We met with the mayor. He told us; we don't have the funds to build the road. He said; 'block the road, go on strike, do whatever you want. We don't ask about you,' he told us. They lie to you all day long. They come to get the votes and then leave. They didn't give us hope, they told us 'we don't have the funds!'" claimed one of the protesters.
