Invited to the show "Studio24", environmental expert Taulant Bino has broken down details from the project filed with the Ministry of Tourism and Environment, raising concerns about the damage expected to be caused to the sand dunes and pine belt.
According to Bino, the project envisages high-rise buildings, which will completely hide the natural wealth that currently covers the area.
"There will be 8-story structures there. The pine trees are less than 8 stories tall. This means that the buildings will go above the pine trees and thus the landscape will be severely affected," the expert said, explaining that the visual and environmental impact will be extraordinary.
Beyond the height of the buildings, the expert raised the main concern related to underground interventions, precisely in areas where sand dunes (sand hills created by the wind) are located, which are protected by law as priority habitats.
Bino revealed that the officially submitted project envisages underground construction beneath these centuries-old structures:
"It's not just the landscape that is being affected. It talks about underground structures. The project filed with the Ministry of Environment says that there will be underground structures under the sand dunes. How can this be? The dunes are centuries old, built by nature! Sand dunes are priority habitats that need to be protected. Something that nature has built for millions of years, we destroy in four days, for example."
