The Minister of Internal Affairs, Besfort Lamallari, together with the Director General of the State Police, Skënder Hita, conducted an inspection in Himara to closely monitor the implementation of measures to guarantee order and security during the summer tourist season.

During the meeting with the Mayor of Himara, Vangjel Tavo, Minister Lamallari emphasized that security is one of the main elements that guarantees the development of tourism and that cooperation between the State Police and local government is crucial for providing quality services to citizens and tourists.

"Security is not simply an obligation of the state, but our promise to every citizen and every visitor who chooses Albania. Together with the local government, every structure is tasked with guaranteeing order, security, immediate assistance and dignified services for domestic and foreign vacationers," said Minister Lamallari.

He underlined that in the last 4 months alone, the State Police has intervened in 67 cases to come to the aid of tourists, rescuing over 200 visitors, mainly in the mountainous areas of Çika, Gjipe and the south of the country.

The Minister also praised the positive effects of implementing the revised guideline on the permitted noise level, emphasizing that it has been welcomed by both tourists and businesses, while announcing that controls on the coastline have been intensified.

"In the last four months alone, 4,220 vessels have been inspected, 21% more than in the same period last year. 166 cases of violations at sea have been sanctioned, with the seizure of vessels and administrative measures against drivers who have endangered the safety of vacationers or violated navigation rules," Lamallari declared.

The Minister emphasized that institutions are committed to guaranteeing high safety standards throughout the summer season.

"We coordinate work for maximum standards, rapid response in cases of situations where assistance is required and zero tolerance towards any violation that compromises the security or image of the country," he said. The Director General of the State Police, Skënder Hita, presented one of the most important innovations of this tourist season.

"For the first time this year, maritime border control is carried out directly at sea. Yachts and vessels no longer need to appear at border crossing points, as the Border Police goes to them and carries out verifications in the TIMS system. This is an important development that increases the quality of service and facilitates the movement of vessels", said Hita. The Mayor of Himara, Vangjel Tavo, praised the cooperation with the State Police, emphasizing that it has been a key factor for the smooth running of the tourist season.

"Thanks to close cooperation with the State Police, we have managed to have a safe tourist season. The police have been a constant support, both in traffic management and public order, as well as in tourist rescue operations and in the management of problems related to noise and traffic during the summer season," said Tavo.

During the inspection, it was emphasized that the State Police structures, in cooperation with the local government and other responsible institutions, will continue intensive controls on land and at sea, with a focus on guaranteeing the safety of vacationers, respecting the law, and maintaining standards that strengthen Albania's image as a safe tourist destination.
