A collision between a tourist boat and a sailboat occurred on Monday morning, August 31, in the sea area near Skiathos in Greece. The tourist boat, which was carrying 42 people, had set off from the port of Skiathos towards the island of Tsougria. During the voyage, it collided with the left bow of the sailboat. The collision caused damage to the sailboat, which suffered a crack in the bow. Immediately after the incident, the port authorities were notified and began verifications of the circumstances of the collision.
Despite the incident, the 42 passengers on the tourist boat managed to disembark safely on the island of Tsougria. There were also some minor injuries from the collision, but no serious injuries were reported. The passengers were safely evacuated from the boat, while the tourist boat then returned to Skiathos on its own, without the need for assistance from other vessels.
The boat headed to the Agios Georgios area, within the port of Skiathos, where it was safely anchored. Following the incident, the captain of the tourist boat was subjected to an alcohol test. The result was negative, indicating that he had not consumed alcohol at the time of the collision. The Skiathos Port Authority has launched a preliminary investigation to determine the causes and circumstances of the maritime accident, while the damage caused to the two vessels is being examined.
The investigation is expected to clarify the dynamics of the collision and the possible responsibilities of the parties involved in the incident.
