At least 14 people were killed when a bus veered off a road in Bolivia and fell off a 150-meter cliff.

The fatal accident occurred near the community of Mocomoko, in the western part of the Andean country. The bus was heading towards the capital, La Paz, according to Bolivian media reports.

The initial death toll from the crash was at least seven, but that number doubled a few hours later. A police spokesman said residents rushed to the scene before rescue teams arrived and freed the victims, who were taken to La Paz and the neighboring city of El Alto.

The fate of the driver is unknown, while the causes of the accident remain unclear at this time.
