A serious incident occurred this afternoon in Tropoja, where 1 municipality employee lost his life and 3 others were injured as a result of contact with electricity while carrying out field work.
The incident occurred while employees were pruning trees near a high-voltage power line pole.
Police services and an investigation team have arrived at the scene to reconstruct the full dynamics of the incident. The investigations are focusing on clarifying the procedures followed for safety at work, as well as verifying whether there was prior coordination between the Tropoja Municipality and the electricity distribution company to cut off the power before the start of the works.

On 08.09.2026, at around 10:00, we received notification that, near the village of Bujan, on the Dobrave road, 4 employees of the Tropoja Municipality, while carrying out work to distribute and physically place lighting poles on this road, came into contact with electricity.
Preliminary investigations suspect that, while placing a pole on the foundation, due to its weight, the 4 workers who were holding it lost their balance and the pole touched the power wires, transmitting electricity to the workers.
As a result, citizen MS, 59 years old, has passed away, while citizens A. D, 40 years old, ID, 47 years old, and AA, 21 years old, are at Bajram Curri Hospital for medical treatment.
From the preliminary actions, it appears that the employees were carrying out the transport and distribution of the poles, according to the work plan, dated 04.09.2026, of the Municipality of Tropoja, Directorate of Tourism, Public Services and Transport.
The investigation team is continuing procedural actions to fully clarify the circumstances of the incident.
