At least 17 people have been killed and 10 others injured in a serious road accident in northern Pakistan, according to local authorities.
The incident occurred when a bus traveling from the Swat region to Peshawar developed a technical fault and stopped on the side of the road. Passengers got off and stood by the vehicle while repairs were carried out.
At that moment, a truck went out of control and crashed into the group of people who were near the bus, causing a serious tragedy. According to rescue team official Bilal Ahmad Faizi, at least 17 people have died, while more than 10 others have been taken to hospital, some in critical condition. Local doctors have also confirmed the death toll.
Many of the passengers were traveling to return home on the eve of Eid al-Fitr, one of the most important religious holidays, which added to the tragedy of the event.
