Donald Trump has once again appeared open to the possibility of an agreement with Iran, but he does not rule out, in case of failure, even going as far as military intervention, as implied.

More than once in the same statements to journalists, the US president referred to the possibility of a nuclear deal with Tehran.

“We have to make a deal, otherwise it’s going to be very traumatic [for Iran],” he added. When asked by a reporter if he had a timetable for the Iran deal, Trump replied: “I think next month or something like that. It’s going to happen very soon.” At another point, he said, “I’ll talk to the Iranians as long as I want.”

He added that “if we can’t make a deal with them, we’ll go to phase two. Phase two will be very difficult for them and I don’t want that.” If the deal, he noted elsewhere, “is not very fair and very good, it will be very difficult for Iran.”
