US President Donald Trump has said that an Iranian cargo ship was seized during a naval intervention in the Gulf of Oman after it was suspected of attempting to violate a blockade imposed by the United States.

According to Trump's post, the ship "TOUSKA", about 274 meters long, was spotted by the American destroyer USS Spruance, which asked the crew to stop immediately.

Trump claims the crew disobeyed orders, prompting US forces to intervene and cause damage to the engine room, neutralizing the ship.

According to him, the ship is currently under the surveillance of the US Navy, while its cargo and previous activity are being verified, due to suspicions of violations of sanctions imposed by the US Treasury Department.

The incident has not yet been confirmed by Iranian authorities.
