US President Donald Trump has launched a new verbal attack on the Iranian leadership, accusing Tehran of contradictory positions in relations with the United States.
In a reaction published on social media, Trump claimed that Iranian authorities are seeking a meeting with Washington, while at the same time publicly declaring that they are not in negotiations with the US and that their communication is only through Oman.
"Some would say they're praying for a meeting," Trump said, calling Tehran's behavior "very hypocritical."
The US president also commented on the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, rejecting Iran's claims that it controls this strategic maritime area. According to Trump, navigation in this region is under the full supervision of the United States Navy.
He declared that nothing can happen in Iran without American approval and that this situation will continue until an agreement is reached, or as he described it, a "complete surrender."
Trump said the talks aim to solve a problem that, according to him, has been created by the Iranian leadership over the past few decades.
At the end of his response, the US president reiterated Washington's position on Iran's nuclear program, stating that "Iran will never have a nuclear weapon."
