While countries supporting Kiev are increasing their military aid, Moscow is talking about a possible rapprochement with the US after a phone conversation between Putin and Trump.

Russian President Putin assured Trump that Russia has no “aggressive plans” toward Europe, his foreign policy adviser Yuri Ushakov told reporters. The statement comes just weeks after the hybrid attack on Leipzig-Halle airport, which the German government blames on Russia.

Kremlin: Putin-Trump conversation was "constructive"
Yuri Ushakov, Russian President Vladimir Putin's adviser on foreign policy issues, said the hour-long phone conversation between Putin and Donald Trump was "constructive and quite frank."

According to Ushakov, the Kremlin leader also presented Trump with an "objective and detailed analysis of developments on the battlefield." Putin also explained to Trump "what the Americans can do to end the fighting as soon as possible." The Russian adviser did not provide further details.
Ushakov said Moscow positively assessed the visit of US special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, who held mediation talks in Russia last weekend. However, no significant progress was announced after this visit.

According to Ushakov, the US president hinted that if the war ends, relations between Russia and the United States could be fully restored to their former glory. Other prisoner exchanges were also discussed during the conversation.

Zelensky: Valuable ideas from American envoys

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said US envoys visiting Kyiv had presented "very good and valuable" ideas for ending Russia's four-and-a-half-year war, adding that he hopes to meet with Trump within the next two weeks.

On the other hand, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Russia remains determined to achieve its military objectives and believes it is close to victory. However, Ukrainian and Western observers estimate that Moscow has not managed to make any significant progress on the front line. So far, US President Trump has not made any public statement regarding this call./DW
