US President Donald Trump has reacted again regarding relations between Italy and the US, for which he has often been criticized.

Trump has reiterated that Italy was not there when it needed to be and when the US needed it.

The American president said that he has always been supportive of Italy and that he expected the same.

"Italy wasn't there when we needed it. And I've always been there for Italy, and so has my country."

Donald Trump made this statement during an interview with Corriere della Sera a day after his Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, traveled to Rome.

When asked if Italy could provide minelayers after the Iran ceasefire, Trump repeated: "Italy was not there when we needed it."
