US President Donald Trump has commemorated the 25th anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, during a ceremony at the Pentagon, where he highlighted the unity of Americans and the heroism of those who lost their lives saving others. Trump described the attacks as “a moment of great and terrible evil,” emphasizing that they constituted one of the most severe tests for the United States, but at the same time united the country in the face of terrorism. “Today, we renew the sacred oath that we first took in their name 25 years ago. We will never forget. That is precisely why we fight today. We have no other choice. Only victory can come,” Trump said.

The US president also focused on how Americans reacted after the attacks, calling September 11 a moment that showed the true character of the nation. "Time has not dimmed the honor of that day when our country faced true evil. But this morning we also remember how America responded to that evil. It is on days like September 11 that we learn what a country is truly made of," Trump said.

A significant portion of the speech was dedicated to firefighters, police officers, emergency responders and ordinary citizens who put themselves at risk to save lives. "Our heroes are the ones who run into buildings and give their lives on a Tuesday morning for strangers they've never met," the US president said.

Trump presented the reaction of Americans after the attacks as evidence of the country's resilience and cohesion, noting that on such days it becomes clear what the values and character of a nation are. During the speech, the US president also referred to today's geopolitical challenges, especially the clash with Iran. Trump described the Iranian regime as the "number one state sponsor of terrorism in the world" and reiterated his position that Tehran should not be equipped with nuclear weapons. "We are being tested today and we are winning this test very easily," Trump said.
