With messages in every direction, Donald Trump is leaving for China where he will meet with his counterpart, Xi Jinping.
In statements to reporters on Tuesday from the White House, the US president, after flattering Beijing by saying that "we and China are the two superpowers of the world," stressed that "Iran's leaders will either do the right thing, or we will finish the job."
"We have Iran under complete control," he said at another point to emphasize that "either we make a deal or they are destroyed. Either way, we win."
Iran cannot have nuclear weapons, he stressed, adding that "they have agreed to this, however it is not what they sent me, we do not play games."
He also said that the Pakistanis are "wonderful mediators" and added that "the field marshal and the prime minister of Pakistan have been absolutely wonderful."
Finally, regarding Xi Jinping, he said that "he will come here towards the end of the year. I just wish we had finished the banquet hall."
He said he would have a long conversation with President Xi about the war in Iran, but added that he did not believe the Chinese president would help Washington end the war in the Middle East.
He even assured that the banquet hall is “on budget and ahead of schedule.” But when a reporter told him that the cost had doubled, Trump didn’t hesitate to call him… “a stupid person.”
Melania Trump will not be accompanying her husband on his trip to China, according to the South China Morning Post, citing the first lady's office as a source.
At the same time, Trump said he believes the end of the war in Ukraine is very close, as he believes Moscow and Kiev will reach an agreement to resolve the conflict.
"I truly believe that the end of the war in Ukraine is very close," the US president said.
It is noteworthy that Russian President Vladimir Putin had expressed a similar assessment on Saturday. "I believe the end is coming," he told reporters, referring to the war in Ukraine.
