Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi warned against misunderstandings in relations with the United States ahead of US President Donald Trump's expected visit to China.
In his statement at the National People's Congress, Wang said that if the two countries turn their backs on each other, it could lead to misperceptions and incorrect calculations.
"A path towards conflict and confrontation could drag the whole world down," an official English summary of his comments said.
According to him, relations between China and the US have far-reaching influence and global consequences.
Trump has announced that he plans to visit China, a visit that could reportedly take place at the end of March.
However, Beijing has not yet officially confirmed this visit.
