The Kukes Police have finalized within 24 hours two operations to crack down on the cultivation of narcotic plants and the capture of persons wanted for criminal offenses in the field of narcotics. The operations codenamed "Kalimashi" and "Zabeli" led to the arrest of two citizens, as well as the seizure of narcotic substances and the destruction of cultivated plants.
As part of the "Kalimashi" operation, the services of the Kukes Police Commissariat arrested citizen FL, 34 years old, resident of Kukes, in flagrante delicto. He was caught taking care of 60 suspected narcotic Cannabis Sativa plants, which he allegedly cultivated in the territory of the village of Kalimash.
Some of the plants were seized as material evidence, while the rest were destroyed by the police through burning. Meanwhile, during the continuation of the “Zabeli” operation, launched on July 11, 2026, specialists from the Narcotics and Trafficking Investigation Section, in cooperation with the Operational Sector, the “Eagle” Special Force and the Kukës Police Commissariat, made it possible to locate and detain citizen FR, 63 years old, resident of the village of Geshtenjë.
He was declared wanted after the Court had imposed the security measure "Arrest in prison" on him for the criminal offenses "Production and sale of narcotics" and "Cultivation of narcotic plants". According to the police, the 63-year-old, in collaboration with his son MR, is suspected of having cultivated 215 Cannabis Sativa plants in the territory of the village of Geshtenjë. During the searches in their apartment, the blue uniforms found and seized 3 kilograms of suspected narcotic Cannabis Sativa. The detainee's wife and the mayor of the village of Geshtenjë have also been criminally prosecuted in this case, while the police continue to work to capture citizen MR, who is still wanted. The procedural materials for both cases have been referred to the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction in Kukës for further action.
