A police operation has uncovered a drug distribution scheme in Durrës, where narcotics were prepared in the form of candy and distributed near high schools.
The operation codenamed "Bitter Taste", developed by the structures of the Durrës Local Police Directorate in cooperation with investigative structures, led to the discovery of a base for the processing of synthetic drugs and the dismantling of a network that mainly targeted teenagers.
Two brothers, citizens LL, 20 years old and RL, 25 years old, were arrested, while their accomplice, Xh. L., 20 years old, was declared wanted, for whom the search continues.
According to the investigation, the three young men had created the conditions for the production of synthetic narcotics in gelatinous form, similar to candy, making them more attractive to young people. Each of them had a specific role in the criminal chain, from production to transportation and distribution.
During a search of one of the arrested individuals, near the school area, police seized 50 packages of drugs in the form of candy, weighing approximately 650 grams.
Meanwhile, a considerable amount of materials and substances for drug production were found in their apartment in Tirana, including gelatin in the form of candy, cannabis, about 550 grams of synthetic material ready for processing, an electronic scale, plastic molds for forming candy, as well as other auxiliary ingredients.
Authorities emphasize that the operation is part of measures to increase security in schools and prevent the spread of narcotics among young people.
Investigations continue in cooperation with the Prosecution Office to identify other persons involved in this criminal activity, while the procedural materials will be referred to the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction of Durrës for the criminal offense of "Production and sale of narcotics", in cooperation.
