The suspected shooter in the Brown University shooting has been found dead in a warehouse in Salem, New Hampshire after a six-day manhunt, authorities in the US announced.
The BBC writes that the perpetrator of the attack has been identified as Claudio Neves Valente, 48. A Portuguese citizen who studied at the university in Providence, Rhode Island, about 25 years ago.
The police chief said video evidence and information from the public led investigators to a car rental location where they found the suspect's name.
Officials also said they also believe Valente killed a Massachusetts Institute of Technology professor two days after the shooting at Brown on Dec. 13.
According to records, he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
"Although the suspect was found dead tonight, our work is not over yet. There are many questions that need to be answered," said FBI Special Agent in Charge Ted Docks, adding that the agency had deployed approximately 500 agents to assist local authorities in the investigation.
