One of the two American pilots of the F-15 fighter jet that crashed in Iran has been rescued by US forces, NBC News reports.
A search and rescue mission is ongoing to find the second crew member.
Earlier, US forces confirmed the downing of a US fighter jet by Iranian forces. The downed aircraft is a multi-mission fighter jet that first appeared in the Gulf War.
F-15E Strike Eagle, belonging to the 494th Squadron of the US Air Force.
The squadron is based at Lakenheath base in Britain and is intended primarily for operations in the European area in cooperation with NATO forces.
