At least nine people were injured after a Ukrainian drone hit a residential building in the Russian city of Belgorod on Friday, local authorities said. A 3-year-old girl was among the injured, according to the regional crisis management center.
Images from the scene show a ten-story building badly damaged by the explosion. The Belgorod region is located near the border with Ukraine and is one of the areas that has been hit repeatedly by cross-border attacks since the start of the war.
Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, and since then both sides have carried out regular drone and missile attacks on their respective territories. Just a day earlier, 24 people were reportedly killed in Russian attacks in Kyiv.
Ukrainian authorities have not yet commented on the incident in Belgorod, while drone attacks on Russian border areas have repeatedly increased in recent months.
