An elderly woman in Zaporizhia, Ukraine, has interfered with a Russian FPV drone equipped with fiber optics, managing to cut off its connection to the operator within seconds.
In the footage, allegedly recorded by a Russian operator and released on September 15, 2026, the woman is seen approaching the downed drone and removing the spool of fiber-optic cable. By disconnecting the cable, she breaks the connection that allows the device to be controlled remotely.

According to some reports, the woman also tampered with the drone's battery before leaving the site. Her action has sparked numerous reactions online, with observers praising the calmness and speed with which she acted.
One commentator described the intervention as "surgical precision", while a diplomat who reacted to the incident noted the great risk the woman took by approaching the device.
Russian fiber-optic FPV drones use a physical cable to transmit images and commands between the drone and the operator. This technology allows them to operate while avoiding some of the limitations that affect wireless communications.
However, experts and observers warn that approaching such a drone could be extremely dangerous. The device could still contain an explosive charge, and physical interference could cause a fire or explosion.
