An unusual incident accompanied the funeral ceremony of singer Giorgos Mazonakis at the Third Cemetery of Athens, where hundreds of relatives, friends, colleagues and fans had gathered to bid him farewell. The funeral ceremony took place initially at the Church of the Holy Trinity in Nicaea and then the coffin was taken to the cemetery, where the burial ceremony was held. At the end, those present saw off the singer with applause and songs.
But during the funeral, the situation became tense for a few moments, as some of the attendees tried to get closer and get a better look at the ceremony. For this reason, some people climbed onto the graves near the place where the burial was taking place. According to a video published on social networks, two or three people are seen standing on the graves. The marble structures could not withstand the weight and pressure, breaking and falling along with the people who were on top of them.
