The Chairman of the Republican Party, Fatmir Mediu, has reacted after the passing of former US Congressman Eliot Engel, describing him as one of the most prominent American politicians and a great friend of Albanians.
Mediu emphasized that Engel, former chairman of the Congressional Foreign Affairs Committee and leader of the caucus on Albanian affairs, was a staunch supporter of national causes.
According to him, Engel has been an "unyielding fighter" for Kosovo, the rights of Albanians in the Balkans, and one of the leading voices in support of Albania's membership in NATO.
"The gratitude of every Albanian is endless for Congressman Engel and his memory will remain eternal, as an important part of our national history," said Mediu.
"Rest in peace, Congressman Engel," Mediu concluded his reaction.
