The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, has filed a criminal complaint with the Tirana Prosecutor's Office, requesting the investigation of the document that, according to him, served as the basis for initiating criminal proceedings against him.
According to the reaction of his legal office, criminal proceedings No. 27/2024 are based on a document signed by a person calling himself "Nesti Angoni", who - according to official verifications mentioned in the complaint - does not appear to exist in the civil status registers.
The reaction emphasizes that this is not an anonymous report, but a document that is presented as signed by a specific individual, with the aim of creating false credibility before the prosecution. According to this argument, such an action could constitute forgery and interference in the process of initiating criminal prosecution. Veliaj demands the identification of the real author who drafted and signed this document, as well as the investigation of any criminal liability related to the use of a false identity to initiate the case against him.
