Tirana Police have arrested a 70-year-old man, suspected of two arson attacks that occurred over the last two days in Lundër and Shkozë. As part of the investigation to identify the perpetrators of the arson attacks, the services of Police Commissariat No. 1, following reports of the two fires, have intervened in cooperation with the fire services and have made it possible to identify and arrest citizen SA, 70 years old, within 48 hours.

According to the Police, on August 9, 2026, in the village of Lundër, the 70-year-old is suspected of having started a fire near the warehouses of the Municipality of Tirana. The day before, on August 8, he is suspected of having started a fire near some bushes, near an electrical booth in Shkozë.

As a result of the flames, significant damage has been caused to land around the affected areas. The procedural materials have been referred to the Tirana Prosecutor's Office for further action. The State Police appeals to citizens not to light fires under any circumstances, while any case of illegality can be reported to the number 112, guaranteeing anonymity and immediate response.
