The Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) candidate for president, Vjosa Osmani, has stated that the Vetëvendosje Movement has no reason to reject her candidacy for another term as president of Kosovo.
In a press conference alongside LDK leader Lumir Abdixhiku, Osmani said that the election result is only the first step towards the party's revival. "It gives us hope that we are on the right path. With more work on the ground and close to the citizens, I believe that LDK will continue to rise in the months and years to come," Osmani said.
She added that the process of restoring the LDK has just begun.
"The time for resurgence has only just begun. There is nothing stopping it," Osmani said. According to the results of the June 7 elections, the LDK has maintained its electoral base and has increased in percentage due to the decline in the total number of voters, ranking as the third political force with around 18 percent of the votes. Meanwhile, the Vetëvendosje Movement is leading at the national level with over 43 percent of the votes counted.
